Farmers Bridge Junction

Through the tunnel from Gas Street Basin is Farmers Bridge Junction. A cross roads. Through the bridge on the left is the route to Farmers 13 locks and the Birmingham and Fazeley Canal marked by funny little island with a signpost marked the route.

The bridge on the right of my picture led to the Ouzel Bridge Branch, serving a large area devoted to coal wharves, some derelict, some still working. Now the area is unrecognizeable, as it is an entertainment area with first class restaurants. Through the chain link fencing on the left was a great hole now filled with the NEC.

Horse drawn Salvage boats regularly passed through having collected rubbish from factories bordering the canals, it was taken to a tip somewhere in the Wednesbury area.
